Impact of Globalization on Local Culture

In this fast-growing world, cultural heritage is at risk. The world changes year by year from medieval to modern era. The globalization takes place in education system, improve facilities, hospitals and many more. Globalizations have positive impact as well as negative consequences such as losing of culture and vanishing of local languages. Working together and smartly can prevent such consequences, where moving on with globalization along with keeping local culture preserved

To begin, globalization have positive impact as well as negative impact. Bhutan is developing year by year. Bhutan is developing year by year. According to the NCC (National Cultural Commission 2022, states that in olden days people had to go to Tibet to study. Now a days, the school are established and available everywhere. For example, in the education system, the rules are different and strict compared to olden day like in olden days they can get job easily after completing class 10 where now a days, it's hard to get job even after completing college. There are many schools, hospitals and other job opportunities. With those development, there will be good education, hospitality, job opportunities and many more. With the advancement in technology, it makes work easier such as communicating over long distance, doing project work and sharing anything through technology. This was further backed by an article called ' ancient people' which told, they had to travel from one community to another to pass messages. Hence, proving how globalization has a positive impact as well as negative impact on lives.

Moreover, it also has negative impact on local culture. Advancement in technology makes people go crazy over internet/phone. Nowadays, most of the people speak and learn many languages, dance, dress and many more. There are chances of losing culture by speaking other languages, wearing other countries dress code and following other culture. To this a recent study by the DDC (Dzongkha Development Commission) 2020 states that, as time evolved the languages differed, causing a big threat to nation's culture and identity. For example, in olden days, English was quite formal and precise. However, through various evolution of pronunciations, individuals often create new words such as ' gonna, wanna, etc..' which was initially ' going to' and 'want to'. Therefore, creating a big threat to a nation's identity and culture in languages.

Furthermore, Mega city in Gelephu employs people to get job opportunities and reduce the number of people migrating to outside country. However, some need to migrate and it may destroy habitats of animals. If more development comes, there are chances of less number of local houses and losing of traditional artifact. According to the department of 13- arts and crafts, (Zorig- Chusum) of Bhutan, they state that modernization has caused several differences in the form of art, which was in the olden times. Old traditional arts were now replaced by modern amenities and practices.  In the olden eras, individuals were encouraged to pursue on wood crafting and art. However, the numbers increased until the 21 centuries. Hence also affecting the nation's culture and tradition by modernization.

To conclude, since it has both negative and positive impact, thinking smartly and working together is important. While bringing development, there should not be disturbance of animals' habitats and culture. More the development, the better the economic. Globalization has connected people, countries, and businesses all around the world. It allows us to share ideas, goods, technology, and cultures more easily than ever before. While globalization brings many benefits like better communication, new opportunities, and faster progress, it also brings challenges such as loss of traditions and unequal development. With globalization, we can make better choices to enjoy its benefits while protecting our culture, environment, and values. It has opened up many new opportunities in education, business, science, and technology, helping countries to grow and people to improve their lives. It also gives people more job opportunities and access to new technologies and ideas. If we use globalization in a smart and fair way, it can help create a better, more understanding, and peaceful world for everyone. By respecting each other and working together, we can make sure globalization brings benefits to all, not just a few.
